Bengaluru, March 26, 2025 – ManipalCigna Health Insurance, in partnership with the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC), conducted a vital Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Basic Life Support (BLS) training workshop alongside a health insurance awareness camp for BMTC drivers and conductors in Hennur, Bengaluru.
This initiative aligns with ManipalCigna’s role as the lead health insurer under the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) State Insurance Awareness Plan for Karnataka, demonstrating their commitment to enhancing health insurance literacy and emergency preparedness across the state.
Recognizing the critical role of BMTC’s frontline staff in ensuring public safety, the workshop focused on equipping them with life-saving skills. Given their potential as first responders, the ability to perform CPR can significantly improve survival rates during cardiac or respiratory emergencies.
“BMTC’s drivers and conductors are essential to Bengaluru’s daily life, ensuring the safe transit of countless commuters,” stated Sapna Desai, Chief Marketing Officer, ManipalCigna Health Insurance. “We are encouraged by their active participation in this CPR training, especially considering the alarming rise in cardiac emergencies in India. With nearly 90% of out-of-hospital cardiac arrests occurring without timely CPR, initiatives like these are crucial for building a more resilient community. We are committed to supporting their preparedness and promoting the importance of health insurance.”
The event successfully combined practical CPR training with comprehensive health insurance education, aiming to improve health outcomes and increase insurance adoption across the region.
