HOSKOTE, BENGALURU RURAL – On 12th January 2026, Shri M.B. Patil, Hon’ble Minister for Large and Medium Scale Industries, Government of Karnataka, officially rolled out Yamaha’s first electric scooter, the EC06, marking a landmark moment for the state’s burgeoning EV ecosystem. The roll-out took place at the River Mobility manufacturing facility in Hoskote, signaling a new chapter in Karnataka’s leadership in advanced manufacturing.
The event was attended by high-ranking officials and industry leaders, including Shri Sharath Kumar Bacche Gowda, Hon’ble MLA of Hoskote; Ms. Gunjan Krishna, Commissioner for Industrial Development; and Mr. Jim Aota, Chairman of Yamaha India. The leadership teams from River Mobility, including founders Aravind Mani and Vipin George, and senior representatives from Mitsui were also present to witness the milestone.
A New Era for Urban Mobility
The Yamaha EC06 is designed as a practical, high-quality solution for Indian urban conditions. By leveraging local manufacturing capabilities, the project aims to create a ripple effect across the regional economy.
Speaking at the launch, Shri M.B. Patil emphasized the state’s industrial vision:
“When we see a world-class product being manufactured here, it gives us confidence that Karnataka is firmly on the path to building the next generation of mobility. The Yamaha EC06 being made in Hoskote signals a shift toward practical, high-quality urban mobility. This project will generate significant economic value through job creation and a stronger local supply chain, particularly for our MSMEs.”
Innovation in a Legacy Industry
The collaboration highlights the unique position of River Mobility, a Bengaluru-rooted company that has carved out a niche in the utility EV space. Shri Sharath Kumar Bacche Gowda lauded the innovation, noting that driving real change in a century-old automobile industry is a remarkable feat. He credited the founders of River for identifying new market opportunities and establishing Hoskote as a premier industrial hub.
This launch is perfectly aligned with the Government of Karnataka’s Industrial Policy 2025–30, which prioritizes advanced manufacturing and sustainable mobility. Karnataka continues to serve as a magnet for global giants from Japan, Europe, and the U.S.
The presence of global leaders like Yamaha, alongside other major players such as Foxconn, underscores the international confidence in Karnataka’s robust industrial ecosystem. The state remains committed to fostering an environment that supports global manufacturing standards while driving local innovation.
With this roll-out, Karnataka reaffirms its status as the “EV Capital” of India, delivering high-tech mobility solutions from Hoskote to the world.
