BENGALURU – September 23, 2025 – Narayana Health City today announced a major achievement, having completed over 100,000 neurological procedures in 20 years. This milestone solidifies the hospital’s reputation as a national leader in advanced brain and neuro care, built on two decades of pioneering technology, cutting-edge treatments, and patient trust.
The achievement was highlighted by two remarkable patient success stories, showcasing the hospital’s multidisciplinary expertise. The first case involved a 21-year-old university student, Ms. Deepa, who arrived with super-refractory status epilepticus, a life-threatening condition where seizures continue for over 24 hours despite aggressive medication. A dedicated team of neurologists, epileptologists, and critical care experts provided intensive treatment for seven weeks, including multiple anesthetic-coma therapies. Against all odds, she made a full recovery and now walks unaided.
“Seizures lasting more than five minutes are a medical emergency,” emphasized Dr. Gopal Krishna Dash, Senior Consultant Epileptologist at Narayana Health City. “Early recognition and rapid treatment can be life-saving.”
The second patient, Mr. Rajesh, 50, suffered from severe upper-body dystonia, a movement disorder that made it impossible for him to sit or stand comfortably. After conventional treatments failed, the team recommended Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS), a procedure that uses implanted electrodes to correct abnormal brain signals. Within a month, his symptoms dramatically improved, and he is now living a near-normal life.
Dr. Kuldeep Shetty, Consultant Movement Disorders Specialist, noted, “Awareness of DBS for movement disorders remains low, yet its benefits can be dramatic. Its indications are expanding rapidly and deserve wider recognition.”
Dr. Vikram Huded, Senior Consultant and Director of the Interventional Neurology Program, highlighted the importance of timely intervention for stroke and other neurological conditions. “One in four individuals is at risk of stroke, and one in fifty will have a brain aneurysm. Subtle symptoms should be checked immediately with a CT or MR angiography. Timely interventions like Mechanical Thrombectomy or Carotid Stenting can save a patient’s brain and help them return to a normal life,” he said.
Renowned singer Lucky Ali also shared his experience as a former patient. He recounted how his daughter’s quick action during a Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA) led to his life-saving carotid stenting procedure at Narayana Health City. “A TIA is a medical emergency—acting fast makes all the difference,” he stated. “I am feeling much better and have returned to my regular activities. I urge everyone: don’t wait, seek help immediately.”
These patient stories underscore how early diagnosis, advanced technology, and coordinated care can restore lives. Narayana Health City continues to set new benchmarks in comprehensive neuro care, offering renewed hope to patients and their families.
