BANGALORE — January 8, 2026 — Nasscom Foundation and IBM today announced a strategic partnership to equip over 87,000 youth from underserved communities across India with market-relevant digital and employability skills. Anchored in the IBM SkillsBuild program, this collaboration aims to bridge the digital divide and prepare young learners for a rapidly evolving tech economy.
Through this initiative, students will access IBM SkillsBuild—a free digital learning platform offering curated courses in high-demand fields, including:
- Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- Cybersecurity
- Cloud Computing
- Data Analytics
- Professional Development
A Hybrid Approach to Impact
The program will be implemented via a hybrid model, combining direct engagement with universities and collaboration with grassroots skilling partners. Beyond self-paced digital learning, the curriculum includes interactive mentorship, project-based training, and placement-linked support. This ensures that learners not only gain technical proficiency but also the professional confidence required for the modern workforce.
“Our partnership with IBM reflects a shared vision to build a digitally fluent generation,” said Jyoti Sharma, CEO of Nasscom Foundation. “By equipping underserved youth with future-ready skills and career exposure, we are unlocking opportunities that transform lives and strengthen India’s digital workforce.”
Sandip Patel, Managing Director of IBM India & South Asia, emphasized the importance of accessible education: “Skilling is the new currency of innovation. Our collaboration reinforces IBM’s commitment to expanding access to cutting-edge technology, equipping India’s youth to lead the country’s next phase of digital transformation.”
Global Vision, Local Execution
The partnership aligns with IBM’s global commitment to skill 30 million people by 2030 and train 2 million learners in AI by the end of 2026. By leveraging IBM’s global expertise and Nasscom Foundation’s community-driven reach, the initiative provides cutting-edge resources to those who lack industry exposure.
By focusing on “handholding” learners through their journey, the program ensures meaningful skill absorption. Select participants will also receive intensive mentor-led sessions focused on employability, facilitating a smoother transition from education to high-growth employment opportunities.
This collaboration contributes significantly to India’s vision of a digitally empowered society, ensuring that every young person—regardless of their background—has the opportunity to learn, grow, and lead in the digital age.
