BENGALURU / March 6, 2023: Ahead of the International Women’s Day, Radhakrishna Multispecialty Hospital in Bengaluru has launched a women health checkup package for cancer. It is tailormade to check for the presence of breast, colorectal and cervical cancers in women of all age groups.
A range of tests are offered as part of the package, including Transvaginal ultrasound (TVS), pap smear, sono-mammography, colposcopy, cancer antigen 125 and abdomen-pelvis ultrasound. Other options include Cervarix and Gardasil vaccines and general health checkup.
Apart from the Radhakrishna Multispeciality Hospital, the oncology package for women would also be offered at BBMP Maternity Hospital, NR Colony, Bengaluru.
The oncology package would be offered to women at the two hospitals throughout the year, along with an awareness program about the risks posed from breast cancer, cervical cancer,uterine and cervical cancers can be detected.
Said Dr. Vidya V Bhat, Medical Director, Radhakrishna Multispeciality Hospital, Bengaluru: “Preventive health screening among healthy, asymptomatic women helps identify previously unrecognized health risks. Women are at a risk of getting breast cancer, cervical cancer, or colorectal cancer in various stages of their life, and their prevalence rate has seen a rise in recent years. Detection of these cancers in early stages is very important when they are the most treatable. The survival rate of cancer patients detected in stage 1 is as high as 93%, which reduces to 24% if detected in stage 4.”
She added: “There are several steps that women can take to protect themselves cancer. These include regular checkups and cancer screening, healthy lifestyle choices such as avoiding smoking and excessive alcohol consumption, maintaining a healthy weight, and exercising regularly, healthy diet and vaccination against certain types of cancer like cervical cancer.”
