Coimbatore / Chennai, 29th June, 2021: Royal Enfield, the global leader in the mid-size motorcycle segment has announced a contribution of INR 1.5 crores to enable and equip Rural Primary Health Centres in Coimbatore, Tirupur and Palakkad districts in Tamil Nadu in their fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Working in association with Native Medicare Charitable Trust (NMCT), Royal Enfield will support Primary Health Centres and government hospitals in the identified districts with long term and immediate relief measures in the form of medical equipments and consumables along with a free ambulance service to enable locals in need with ease of access to nearby medical facilities.
The announcement was made during a virtual ceremony, which was presided over by dignitaries from the government of Tamil Nadu including Hon’ble Minister for Food and Civil Supplies-Tamil Nadu, Mr. R.Sakrapani; Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Mr.P.Wilson; Mr.C.S.Vaidyanathan, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court, New Delhi; Dr.Senthil Kumar, Deputy Director Health Services, Coimbatore District; Dr.Nirmala, Dean-Coimbatore Medical College Hospital; Dr.Prabhudass, Assistant Director of Kerala Health Services; Ms.Bidisha Dey, Executive Director, Eicher Group Foundation and Mr.A.S.Sankaranarayanan, Managing Trustee, NMCT.
Royal Enfield will be supporting local PHCs and Government hospitals with medical equipments such as Oxygen Concentrators, Portable X-Ray machines, ECG Machines, Power Sprayers, IV Stands,O2 Flow meters, IR Thermometers, Digital Thermometers, Stethoscopes, Nebulizer machines, Fumigation machines, steam inhalers and Glucometers. It will also provide PPE Kits, Bedspreads with Pillow Covers, Nitrile Hand Gloves, N95 Masks, O2 Masks, Sanitizer, Hand wash liquid, Triple Layer Masks, Face Shields, BioMedical wastage bins with covers, Flat Mobs, Pulse Oximeters and BP Apparatus to 29 Primary Health Centres and 1 Government Hospital in Coimbatore, Tirupur and Palakkad Districts.
Royal Enfield had earlier announced a contribution of INR 2 crores to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund. This amount is being strategically deployed by the state government to enable access to medical aid and consumables as well as for livelihood support programs for millions impacted by the pandemic in Tamil Nadu.
Native Medicare Charitable Trust (NMCT), was established in 1988, as a Public Charitable Trust. NMCT has since been working for the promotion of Environment, Education, Health and Livelihood development with particular focus on social and economic development among the marginalized rural people, remote tribes and people infected by HIV / AIDS. Since the pandemic hit India during the first wave, NMCT took an immediate action in submitting proposals to various Corporate sectors appealing for contributions towards CORONA Pandemic measures.
