Bhuj, June 23, 2025 – SOS Children’s Villages India marked “SOS Day” yesterday, celebrating the 106th birth anniversary of founder Dr. Hermann Gmeiner and commemorating 61 years of its operations in India (and 76 globally). The event in Bhuj honored the organization’s commitment to vulnerable children and communities.
Distinguished guests, including Mrs. Dharmishtha Gajjar (Chairperson, Gujarat State Commission for Protection of Child Rights), Mr. C.C Gujrat (DLSA, Bhuj), CWC Chairperson Mrs. Rita Adhayaru, and Mr. Vipul Doriya (DCPO Bhuj), attended the ceremony.
The program began with a warm welcome from SOS Children’s Villages India leadership, including Mr. Baskarn (Director Alternative Care) and Mr. Sumanta Kar (CEO), along with mothers, children, and co-workers. A lamp lighting and the “SOS prayer” by the children set a meaningful tone.
During the celebration, mothers were recognized for their dedication, and academically successful children received awards from the Chief Guest. Cultural activities and competitions added to the festive atmosphere.
