Bengaluru, 14th February 2022: AICTE ATAL faculty development program on “SCILAB and XCOS – FOSS Alternatives for MATLAB and SIMULINK” was organized by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of CMR Institute of Technology, Bengaluru on 11th February 2022. The five-day faculty development program commenced on 7th February 2022 was sponsored by AICTE under the ATAL scheme. Dr Mohit Tahiliani of NITK Surathkal inaugurated the FDP. The event had welcomed overwhelming enrollments from 200 faculty members throughout India. Dr Mohit Tahiliani, in his keynote address, emphasized the importance and relevance of open source technologies in today’s world. A week-long FDP strived to cultivate the faculty in the development of more open-source software tools by contributing to the open-source community and using open source tools and software in their profession. Furthermore, the participants were engaged with interactive and hands-on training on tools like SCILAB and XCOS, open-source alternatives for famous proprietary tools like MATLAB and SIMULINK. The technical sessions were delivered by resource individuals like Dr Mahesh Anand of SCS India and Prof. Prabhavathi of BMSIT Bengaluru. Participants appreciated the session on Stress management by Dr Meghashyama Dasa from ISKCON Bengaluru on the final day, which drew an end to this successful event.
