Ahmedabad, 16 December, 2021: Swarrnim Startup and Innovation University, the first of its kind university in India committed to promoting startups, in association with HV Enterprise, today signed a MoU with the Government of Gujarat to implement a project worth Rs. 200CR in order to augment the farming and agriculture sector in the state. Swarrnim college of Agriculture will play an instrumental role in skilling, introduce technology and streamline supply chain management.
As per the MoU, Swarrnim College of Agriculture affiliated to Swarrnim Startup and Innovation University will work collaboratively with the government towards the development of Praakritik (natural) products from farmers to consumers through the use of EVs.This attempts to reduce input costs by encouraging farmers to use Praakritik (natural) inputs instead of agricultural chemicals. The proposed project will span across all the cities of Gujarat and aims to employ over 2 Lakh farmers and 1000 logistically trained manpower in the next 10 years. Swarrnim becomes one among the first few investors of Vibrant Gujarat to offer such innovative commitment towards the state.
The project deliberations will focus on aspects of the agriculture value chain, such as farmer empowerment through global knowledge and advanced technologies, promotion and adoption of natural farming techniques, unlocking the potential of FPOs, and opportunities in agri infrastructure, as well as the agro and food processing industries.
The agreement was signed in the presence of the venerated dignitaries such as Acharya Devvrat, Governor of Gujarat, Parshottam Rupala, Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Ranchhodbhai Chanabhai Faldu, Cabinet Minister of Agricultural, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Transport, Raghavji Patel, Agriculture Minister, Gujarat, and Agriculture Ministers of Tripura, Bihar and other states at the Pre-vibrant Gujarat Summit 2021, themed “Agro and Food Processing: Entering a new era of cooperation.”
Commenting on the partnership Mr. Rishabh Jain, President of Swarrnim Startup and Innovation University, said, “This is indeed a momentous occasion for each one of us at Swarrnim. Since our inception, we have been committed towards fostering an inclusive and vibrant community, and with this association with the Government, Swarrnim aims to bring about a paradigm shift in the farming and agriculture sector of Gujarat. This project will not only provide a better livelihood to the farmers of Gujarat, but will also create ample employment opportunities in the State.”
Union Minister Purshottam Rupala, reiterated that there were ample opportunities in the food processing industry in Gujarat as the state government is providing generous assistance in processing, packaging and marketing.
The Gujarat Government signed eight memorandums of understanding (MoUs) worth ₹2,359 crore in the areas of agriculture, agro-processing and agri infrastructure as part of the pre-Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually address during the event’s valedictory ceremony.
