R.I.S.E., Delhi-NCR edition, a first-of-its-kind initiative in Haryana and Delhi NCR. Redefining Institutional Strategy for Excellence (R.I.S.E) provides a unique platform for academic leaders in the Higher Education landscape in India and globally, to connect and discuss the evolving dynamics due to prevailing pandemic, which has impacted the higher education sector across the world.
The aim of R.I.S.E. is not only to bring together the institutions within and outside a state but to bring forth the global perspective to collaborate and brainstorm ideas for providing quality higher education.
The event began with a welcome address by Dr. Ashwin Fernandes, Regional Director, QS – MEA & South Asia followed by a welcome address by Prof. Milind Padalkar, Pro-Chancellor, The NorthCap University.
While welcoming the guests to the R.I.S.E event, Prof. Milind Padalkar, Pro-Chancellor, The NorthCap University said, “As an institution, The NorthCap University has always stood for quality, innovation, and a desire to bring the future forward to make education future-proof. Hence, we are highly delighted to co-host this event with QS India.”
During his inaugural speech at R.I.S.E, Prof Anil D Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) said, “The fulcrum of institutional excellence will come from faculty members because they are constantly associated with an educational institution for a very long time. A faculty spends around four decades in the academic sphere, hence they become the most important pillar to achieve excellence in Education.”
Further talking about the need of adopting technology in education, Prof. Sahasrabudhe while talking about the initiatives taken by AICTE to empower faculties during the pandemic said, “We have trained over 1.65 lakh teachers in courses like AI, IoT, ML, Blockchain, AR & VR, etc. with the help of over 948 programs available online under AICTE’s Training & Learning Academy.” He further added that AICTE plans to train over 2 lakh teachers through 130 programs during this year.”
Lastly, showcasing his gratitude towards The NorthCap University for inviting him to the R.I.S.E event Prof. Sahasrabudhe added, “I would like to thank The NorthCap University for arranging such a program and the university should move in the direction to become global and attract students from all over the world.”
After the insightful inaugural speech by Prof. Sahasrabudhe, Prof Dr. Rekha Vig, Dy. Dean (Academic Affairs), The NorthCap University during a debate on “Online classroom: Bane or boon for higher education?”, said, “The Indian education fraternity has embraced the online system more than willingly, meticulously, and ardently. During the lockdown, when everything was closed, education institutions were open and students were studying. Online teaching has changed the way the world learns now. Thanks to Covid, education is never going to be the same again. It’s not just the transformation itself but the pace at which it has happened is rather more intriguing.”
In the panel presentation on “Case study on best practices in leveraging international collaborations”, Prof. Nupur Prakash, Vice-Chancellor, The NorthCap University, said, “Internationalization of education has happened a long time back. But it has been adopted in different ways by different universities. We all know knowledge is beyond boundaries and with the internationalization of education, there shall be a free flow of ideas, information, skills, etc. across the world. The digital revolution has further enabled this process and has helped new-age businesses in flourishing.”
The event concluded with a presentation on ‘‘Measuring Institutional Quality and Excellence through QS IGAUGE’’ by Mr. Sachin Kumar, Associate Director – Client Relations, QS IGAUGE, and a closing note by Ms. Suchismita Mallick, Analyst, QS IGAUGE.
