28 April 2022, Patna/ National Sports Bureau : The two-day Bihar Sports Conclave 2022 began with a grand opening on Thursday, April 29th, at the Bihar Museum in the state capital of Patna. The program’s primary purpose is to improve sports in Bihar holistically.
Chief Guest Shri Alok Ranjan, Hon’ble Minister, Art, Culture and Youth Department, Government of Bihar, Shri Achyutanand Samant, Hon’ble MP, Kandhamal Orissa, Ms. Shreyasi Singh Arjuna Awardee and Hon’ble Member of Bihar Legislative Assembly, Bihar, Shri Kunal IAS Joint Secretary, Department of Sports, Government of India, Smt. Bandana Preyashi, IAS, Secretary, Art, Culture and Youth, Department, Shri Raveendran Sankaran, IPS Director General, Bihar State Sports Development Authority cum A.D.G., ATS & Sudhanshu Shekhar Roy, Director (Retd.) NINS, Sports Authority, Patiala, inaugurated this highly awaited program by lighting up the Inaugural Lamp.
Eminent personalities, coaches and experts of the Indian sports fraternity invited in this program were honoured with memoirs by Hon’ble Minister Shri Alok Ranjan.
Bandana Preyashi, Secretary, Art, Culture and Youth Department, Bihar, while addressing the program said that, the Bihar Government, under the visionary leadership and able guidance of the Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar and his aspiration “to make sports a mass movement in the state” is committed to turn it into a reality. To spearhead this mission, the construction of a sports academy and international standard stadium is in full swing in Rajgir of Nalanda, Bihar.
Ravindran Sankaran, IPS Director General, Bihar State Sports Development Authority presented the historically rich sports heritage of Bihar in front of the august gathering through a documentary. Players and their achievements lost in the past and part of this legacy were inscribed on a Wall of Fame in the Multi-Purpose Hall of the Bihar Museum. A legacy that is lost somewhere in history and known to a very few of us.
Further he discussed the outline of the two-day program. He stated “The Bihar Sports Development Authority has launched Bihar Sports Conclave 2022 with the mission of assuring participation and success of Bihar’s sports talent at the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.” He further requested Mr. Achyutananda Samanta, the founder of KIIT, Kandhamal, Odisha, to adopt the boys and girls of Bihar till the sports infrastructure is fully operational in Bihar. Shri Kunal, Joint Secretary, Department of Sports, Government of India, in his address, informed about the schemes being run by the Government of India, and also assured that the Government of India Will extend all support to the state government.
Hon’ble Minister Shri Alok Ranjan expressed his gratitude to all the guests and shared information on initiatives being taken in sports development by the state government. He elaborated further on how the efforts are being made for infrastructure development for sports in the state. On this occasion, Shri Alok Ranjan expressed the determination of the state government for sports development, urged the entire sports federations and players to join this campaign. He concluded on high note by giving a slogan “Khelga kudega to banega Lajawaab”.
A large number of eminent personalities like Shreyasi Singh, Major Ignace Tirkey, Nameirakpam Kunjarani Devi, Rahul Bose, Dr. R. Natarajan IRS, G.M. Praveen Thipsay, Ajitesh Roy, Shagun Choudhary etc. came from outside, besides all the District Sports Officers of Bihar Government and people associated with sports and youth affairs, came from all over the state, more than 300 people registered their presence in the jam-packed hall and gave their support to the campaign.
At the end of the ceremony Shri Raveendran Sankaran, IPS Director General, Bihar State Sports Development Authority cum ADG., A.T.S gave vote of thanks to all the invited members. The program was broadcast live on the official Facebook page and YouTube channel of Bihar State Sports Development Authority.
