Itanagar, 02 July 2021: Vietnam’s Hongbang International University (HIU) has partnered with Aieraa Overseas Studies as its India partner for seeking medical aspirants from India.
The Ho Chi Minh City-based university is welcoming medical education aspirants from India, especially Northeast India.
This is the first time that a Vietnamese educational institute has tied with an Indian organisation for students in India. The tie-up will benefit students from Northeast India as around 1000 medical aspirants from the region opt for medical education, Aieraa Overseas Studies said.
With this tie up, Indian medical education aspirants have a more viable and affordable option. The cost of medical education in Vietnam is much lower and affordable for the Indian students. Vietnam is also one of the most economically and politically stable countries in Asia and one among the best surviving countries even during the COVID-19 outbreak.
Speaking at the signing in ceremony, H.E. Mr. Pham Sanh Chau, The Ambassador of Vietnam to India, said, “This is a first joint initiative in Indo-Vietnamese Education. And with direct flights from Kolkata to Ho Chi Minh city and also cultural, food and demographic similarities between Vietnam and India, Indian students will find it like a second home. I will also take this as a personal endeavour and help each student individually for anything that they may require”.
Other than Indian Medical Institutes, around 20,000 (2019) medical aspirants from India have been going to complete their MBBS, to Russia, Philippines, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Kyrgyzstan Philippines & China. Vietnam thus becomes an affordable destination for their medical studies as the cost of living is also comparatively inexpensive.
Ms. Deepa R, Director, Aieraa Overseas said, “While there are 542 medical colleges in India recognised by the Medical Council of India, this number is quite low if compared to the number of medical aspirants in the country. Also, there is an urgent need for more professional Doctors in India to meet the needs of the Indian population”.
Hongbang International University Medical programme is approved & recognised by the Health Ministry of Vietnam, and the medical college is enlisted in the World Health Organisation (WHO). Thus the students of HIU are globally recognised for their best practices and calibrate their abilities to global standards. The university also tied up with 7 Hospitals in Ho Chi Minh city. The medium of education is in English.
According to the tie up Aieraa Overseas will assist Indian & Asian medical education aspirants in applying for admission in Undergraduate Medical Courses and other allied health Medical courses in the Institution for Hongbang International University.

The duration of MBBS training in the vietnam is six years. The students will have to complete four years of classroom training and 1-year internship. Hongbang International University enlisted by ECFMG, WHO, NMC and Recognized by Ministry of Health Vietnam. the aspirants will have to clear the National Medical Admission Test. After completing the course, NMC screening is a must for students to start practicing medicine in India.
