Bengaluru 14 December 2021: On the 11th anniversary of the Brookefield Hospital, the promoters and management of Brookefield Hospital, Dr Pradeep Kumar and Dr Sangeeta Pradeep, conducted the first ever Whitefield Inter-Hospital Sports Meet at the Gopalan International Sports Arena on Sunday
This event saw over 300 participants from 8 hospitals participating in it. Among the participants were doctors from various specialties and paramedical staff including nurses, technicians, ward boys and security personnel. “The various hospitals that participated in this event organized by Brookefield Hospital, were Apollo Cradle, Aster Hospital, Brookefield Hospital, Rainbow Hospital, Jeevika Hospital, RxDx day care center & Pushpa nursing home”.
This event was inaugurated by former Police Commissioner of Bangalore Bhaskar Rao, and other prominent personalities including Mr Nityanand Sahu, MD of Unitech Medical systems, who played an active role in supplying ventilators and oxygen concentrators during the COVID-19 pandemic, and Mr Siddarth Sharma, a renowned journalist and member of the India Against Corruption movement launched by social reformer Anna Hazare.
Police Commissioner Bhaskar Rao, in his address to the gathering & the media, acknowledged the struggle, stress and the hardships faced by the general public and the medical fraternity, in particular.
He also congratulated the management of Brookefield Hospital, and acknowledged the significance of the Inter-Hospital Sports, saying that the initiative is very thoughtful and is much-needed as sports is one of the best ways to overcome stress.
Mr Bhaskar Rao also flagged off the first-ever 2 wheeler ICU emergency response system called BEAST which stands for Brookefield Emergency and Accident Support Team.
He added that the service is extremely useful and much-needed for countries like us where ambulances cannot reach the patient due to the narrow roads and heavy traffic.
Dr Pradeep Kumar, during his address to media, TV, Radio and online agencies present, thanked Mr Bhaskar Rao for his presence at the first-ever Whitefield Inter-Hospital Sports Meet and all the guests present at the unique event.
He was also happy to announce that the BEAST facility, which is the result of 5 years of innovation, is now available for regular use for the public residing in and around Whitefield for any kind of medical emergencies including road traffic accidents, cardiac emergencies and neurological emergencies, wherein, BEAST services will reach the affected site within 15 minutes, diagnose the patient fast, and treat them fast and also stabilize them before shifting the patient to a hospital of his choice.
Soon, this facility would be extended to the entire Bengaluru city and plans are afoot to make this a national emergency programme in the days ahead.
He said, “This sports initiative would be taken forward to many hospitals across the state and possibly across the country, in the years ahead, to promote camaraderie, friendship and support. It also allows for getting a better understanding of the patient’s condition and also ensures better coordination between doctors, nurses and the paramedical staff of various hospitals. This, in turn, results in better care and better outcomes for the patients.”
The sports meet witnessed strong competition and the quality of the sports meet, witnessed, was nothing less than any major sports event in the country.
