Hyderabad, March 09, 2022. Women are the real architects of society said Chandrashekhar Thanvi, Chief General Manager, SIDBI while addressing the second webinar series on the eve of Women’s Day today.
This was organized as the part of Swavalamban Sashakt, a series of 20 Webinars campaigns to promote the Stand-Up India Scheme by the Government of India. It is organised jointly by SIDBI and COWE India. It is a second edition of the webinar series
The webinar was about the business model of Hydroponic Farming & Polyhouse Farming. Hydroponics is a type of horticulture and a subset of hydroculture that involves growing plants, usually crops, without soil, by using mineral nutrient solutions in an aqueous solvent. Polyhouse farming in India is growing crops in a controlled environment. As this was a sun rising sector in Agriculture, SIDBI and COWE organised a webinar to disseminate information to women entrepreneurs about this new field.
Speaking on the occasion Mr Chandrashekhar Thanvi said Hydroponic Farming & Polyhouse Farming is an upcoming area. This is the agriculture without using the land. A lot of successful women are going a big way with this farming method. Women are half of the population. This half is unable to perform, not because of lack of capabilities, but because of lack of awareness.
Dr BK Yadav, Sr. Vice President of Agri Biotech R&D, Jain Irrigation Systems Ltd. has a PhD who has expertise in the area of farming, with vast knowledge on growing crops under controlled environment and having published more than 35 research papers in various journals shared his knowledge, wisdom, insights to the 90 plus virtual audience from across India.
Varshita Khaitan, Co-founder of Green & Browwho is passionate about flora & fauna. shared her experience, acquired through her venture which explores forests, farms & nurseries globally.
Shipra Sharma, Proprietor, Jivasi Naturals, who has a zeal and vision for farming gave insight into cost-effective and controlled farming along with sharing her journey of taking loan under Stand-Up India Scheme (SUI Scheme)
Namrata Singh, Chief Manager, SBI, New Delhi guided and helped the participants in understanding the banker’s perspective while sanctioning the loan under the SUI Scheme.
