Bengaluru February 2023. After a gap of 4 years, St. Xavier’s College (Calcutta) Alumni Association (SXCCAA) along with its South Zone Chapter organised ‘Xaverians In Action’ (XIA) – 2023 earlies this week at the Grand Mercure Hotel, Gopalan Mall, Bengaluru.
Rev. Dr. Dominic Savio, SJ, Principal, St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous) Kolkata and President, SXCCAA has attended the program as the Chief Guest and he focused on how the college is growing day by day through its activities towards betterment in education and also highlighted the role of alumni all over the world, being one of strongest pillars of this esteemed institution.
The program was started with the Business Meet named ‘Xav.Biz’ having Panel Discussions with eminent entrepreneurs all over from India. The topics being ‘Change in Business Dynamics post the Pandemic’ and ‘Crystal Ball gazing 2023 and beyond’ with the panellists like Mr. Amit Bagaria – Entrepreneur turned Author, Mr. Mahabir Prasad Agrawall – Chairman Koncept Ambience Group, Mr. M Laxminarayana IAS – Chairperson Karnataka Panchayat Raj Delimitation Commission and Advisor to Chief Minister of Karnataka, Dr. Anindya Sircar – IPR Chair Professor NALSAR University, Mr. Koushik Chakrabarti – Founder Alterstep Ventures, Mr. Kaushik Mukherjee – Managing Partner (East), Price Waterhouse Coopers (PwC), Mr. Niladri Majumder – President & COO Seiko Watch India, Mr. Somnath Chatterjee – Executive Vice President ITC Foods, Mr. Suvankar Sen, MD & CEO SENCO Gold and Diamonds and the same were moderated by Mr. Sayamdeb Mukherjee – Vice President Planning & Control United Breweries Ltd.
Eminent Xaverians across the fields of Music, Business, etc. were felicitated with the “XIA Global Excellence Award”. This year, the award was conferred to Mr. Mahabir Prasad Agrawall , Mr. Somnath Chatterjee, Dr. L. Ravindran of BCIC, Mrs. Joita Sen of SENCO Gold and Diamond being one of the leading woman entrepreneurs, Mr. Amit Bagaria, Mr. Debaditya Chawdhury of Chowman, Renowned Music Director Mr. Debojyoti Mishra and Mr. Niladri Majumdar.
Rev. Fr. (Dr.) Victor Lobo, SJ – Vice Chancellor, St. Joseph’s University Bangalore, Dr. B. S. Ponmudiraj – Advisor NAAC, Major Pradeep Shoury Arya IRS, Mr. M. Laxminarayan IAS were also present as Guests of Honor for the evening.
Ms. Rashika Roy performed the Invocation Dance with flavour of Indian Classical Genre (Odissi Dance).
Mr. Firdausul Hasan – Honorary Secretary SXCCAA, also addressed the evening by sharing the large number of activities ranging from philanthropy to the networking and fellowship that the alumni association takes up throughout the year and urged to all Xaverians to be part of the association and serve the alma mater towards a greater goal of ‘Men and Women for Others’.
SXCCAA South Zone Chapter donated a sum of Rs. 10 Lakh for the infrastructural development of the rural campus in Raghabpur and newly proposed third campus of St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous) Kolkata at E.M. Bypass Kolkata.
Mr. Rudra Shankar Roy, leading the organizing team of ‘XIA 2023’ shared the vision of sheer commitment of the South Zone Chapter towards Alma Mater and promised to take the Chapter to newer glory both in quality and in numbers.
