Bangalore, 2 Jan 2023 – 14 Students of CMR University’s School of Social Sciences and Humanities took to the streets, conducting a drive to raise awareness against the rising number of traffic accidents in the city recently.
The activity was conducted in collaboration with Banaswadi Traffic Police Station. Inspector Ms. Sheela arrived at the event to extend support. The students arrested the attention of the public through a carefully crafted street play around traffic mishaps.
“The consequences of riding a bike without helmet protection or driving under the influence of alcohol are unthinkable. It is a delight that youngsters are understanding this and trying to warn others as well.” commented Assistant Sub-Inspector Mr. Ramesh. Further, Head Constable J.J. Kumar Naik extended his support at the venue along with 7 other uniformed officers.
2022 saw a total of 477 fatal and 1468 non-fatal accidents which lead to 68 grievous deaths and 2024 minor injuries in Bangalore alone. In light of such volatile traffic conditions pervading the city, the students organized a street play at CMR Circle, Banaswadi raising awareness against these avoidable occurrences.
CMR University is committed to making leaders out of learners and to providing a holistic education encompassing empathy. This activity was conducted to provide a better understanding of road rules for the public as well as the pupils.
