BENGALURU, April 20, 2025 – GITAM (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru, today inaugurated a cutting-edge Robotics & Artificial Intelligence Centre of Excellence and welcomed Sirena Technologies as its first on-campus corporate partner with the launch of their state-of-the-art Research and Development (R&D) Centre. This groundbreaking collaboration marks a significant step towards fostering impactful industry-academia partnerships and solidifies GITAM’s position as a leader in research, innovation, and future-focused education.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Sri Savyasachi K. Srinivas, Vice President of Engineering at Collins Aerospace, who served as the Chief Guest. In his address, Sri Srinivas lauded GITAM’s vision, stating, “India’s engineering talent requires platforms like GITAM to evolve from academic learners into real-world innovators. These Centres of Excellence will be instrumental in driving future breakthroughs in aerospace and AI.”
Dr. Errol D’Souza, Vice Chancellor of GITAM University, emphasized the significance of the partnership, stating, “Our collaboration with Sirena Technologies underscores GITAM’s commitment to providing applied, interdisciplinary learning experiences. Together, we are building an ecosystem where students can engage with real-world innovation and are empowered to become leaders in emerging industries.”
Prof. KNS Acharya, Pro Vice Chancellor, expressed his enthusiasm, remarking, “We are incredibly proud to welcome Sirena Technologies as our inaugural corporate partner on the Bengaluru campus. GITAM’s Robotics & AI programme, launched in the preceding year, has already garnered significant attention for its progressive and interdisciplinary curriculum. The newly established Centre of Excellence boasts advanced laboratories meticulously designed to facilitate hands-on learning for students from their first year through to their final semester.
With projections indicating that the global robotics and AI market will exceed $500 billion by 2030, driven by applications across sectors such as aerospace, healthcare, manufacturing, and smart infrastructure, GITAM’s strategic investments are perfectly aligned with evolving industry demands. The university aims to produce highly employable, industry-ready graduates equipped to thrive in this dynamic landscape.

The event concluded with an insightful expert session on aerospace innovations delivered by Collins Aerospace, followed by the distribution of internship offers to deserving students and guided tours of the newly established laboratories.
