Bengaluru, 19th September – Speaking on the second day of The 55th Annual Convention of Federation of Hotels and Restaurants Association of India (FHRAI) Sri.K.Lakshminarayanan, Tourism Minister, Govt of Puducherry said Puducherry had about 19 lac tourists visiting the state in the year 2024. The Tourism and Hospitality sector contributed about ₹ 25,000 crores to the States economy. Reiterating further he added that a lot of infrastructure development is being undertaken by the Puducherry Government to boost it’s tourism economy.
Dr. Rajendra, Director Tourism, Govt of Karnataka said the state has over 25,000 historical and Heritage sites, 4 UNESCO sites and 800 notified sites to visit. The potentiality of the sector is huge. The ‘Tourism Policy’ unveiled earlier this year by Government of Karnataka emphasis a strong public – private partnership to drive the States economy and employment opportunities.
Speaking at the event Sri. Ganesh Pai, ISKCON, Bengaluru South said “spiritual tourism is all about inclusivity. Earlier only the aged used to visit religious places, but now even travel portals have found that 80% – 90% of places searched for tourism is for religious places. And this is done by Gen Z generation. Gen Z along with visiting places of religious interest wants to add Adventure to there itinerary.”
Dr. Jazzy Nepram, Director of CHI The Spa and Health Club, Shangri-La said if wellness sector needs to be diverse, it needs to train it’s people and skill them. To increase the revenue, property owners can take help of skilled wellness professionals who are individual practitioners, with this collaboration we can look forward for increasing revenue and quality of spa service.
Dr. Bhupesh Kumar, Principal-cum-Secretary, Institute of Hotel Management Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition, Ranchi Said ‘Gen Z’ generation to drive hospitality growth in future. Tourism employers need to be more polished and skilled to cater to this generation and support the sector’s growth.
