Bengaluru, September 20, 2025: At the 55th FHRAI Annual Convention, Andhra Pradesh’s Tourism Minister, Mr. Kandula Durgesh, announced that the state’s recent tourism initiatives are projected to generate approximately 200,000 jobs. He highlighted that the state has given the tourism sector “industry status” and is prioritizing the speed of doing business to attract investors.

Mr. Durgesh detailed the state’s focus on infrastructure, experience development, and new policies (2024-2029) designed to support hospitality. He noted that in the last six months alone, the State Investment Promotion Board has approved hospitality projects worth nearly ₹723 crore. The state is actively promoting its destinations at major international platforms like ITB Berlin and WTM London to attract both domestic and international investments. He added that beyond government initiatives, Andhra Pradesh is also encouraging tent-house activities and leveraging its diverse offerings, including temples and heritage sites.

Mr. Dinesh Gundu Rao, Karnataka’s Minister for Health and Family Welfare, also spoke at the event, assuring attendees that the Karnataka government is committed to supporting the tourism industry.

Mr. K. Syama Raju, President of FHRAI, emphasized the tourism and hospitality sector’s potential to drive job creation and economic growth for India. He stressed that a combination of progressive policies and strong public-private partnerships will be key to unlocking this potential.
