Bengaluru: In an effort to economically empower persons with disabilities, Diageo India, in partnership with the Skill Council for Persons with Disabilities, has been providing structured skill development training. This year, 100 persons with disabilities successfully completed the programme and were awarded certificates.
At a graduation ceremony held in the city, certificates were conferred upon the successful candidates. Speaking on the occasion, Pradeep, Chief Financial Officer of Diageo India, said that persons with physical disabilities possess immense talent and capability. With the right training and guidance, they can become financially independent through their own efforts. He emphasized that providing appropriate skill training is essential to enabling economic self-reliance.
In collaboration with the Skill Council, interested persons with disabilities in Bengaluru are being trained in various domains, including F&B Services, Hospitality Operations, Customer Service, and Soft Skills. The training is delivered by qualified and experienced trainers to ensure industry readiness.
During the current academic year, certificates were awarded to 100 candidates. The initiative aims to expand further, enabling more persons with disabilities to benefit from the programme and build sustainable livelihoods through their own capabilities.
The programme is being implemented across India, and successful candidates trained at this centre are also being provided job placement support. Partnerships have been established with several organizations to facilitate employment opportunities, ensuring that eligible graduates secure suitable jobs.
