BENGALURU — To mark Kargil Vijay Diwas, Idu Nimma Vahini Kala Vedike and the Suvarna Karnataka Digital Media Association hosted a special felicitation ceremony at Nayana Auditorium, honoring Kargil War veterans, medical professionals, and journalists for their exceptional service to the nation.
The event, which also celebrated Doctors’ Day and Journalism Day, brought together key dignitaries and veterans to reflect on national service and sacrifice.
Reflecting on his time on the frontlines, B.K. Kumaraswamy, President of the Ex-Servicemen Forum, shared poignant memories of the 1999 conflict: “At this very time in 1999, we were fighting on the battlefields of Kargil to defend our nation. Those unforgettable days will forever remain etched in India’s history.”
Highlighting the shared responsibility of these professions, Gandasi Sadananda Swamy, President of the Suvarna Karnataka Digital Media Association, noted that soldiers protecting borders, doctors safeguarding health, and journalists upholding the truth perform invaluable duties. “Honoring these distinguished individuals is a privilege,” he added.
Senior journalist V. Nanjundappa emphasized patriotic duty, stating, “The nation should always come first for every citizen. Honoring Kargil heroes is equivalent to honoring the spirit of India itself.”
Notable attendees included Senior Army veteran Saravana Havaldar, Chandrika B.V., and Kishore Kumar K.S., General Secretary of Idu Nimma Vahini Kala Vedike, alongside several prominent guests and organization leaders.
