Bengaluru, September 15th, 2026 CavinKare, in partnership with the Madras Management Association (MMA), hosted the 15th edition of the ChinniKrishnan Innovation Awards 2026 at the IIT Madras Research Park Auditorium. The national platform, designed to honor emerging entrepreneurs and original thinkers, brought together industry leaders, academics, and innovators from across the country. Mr. Kamal Bali, President & Managing Director of Volvo Group India, attended as the ceremony’s Chief Guest alongside prominent leaders from various sectors.
This milestone 15th edition celebrated three breakthrough ventures in the main Innovation Category, presented one Special Jury Award for cultural preservation technology, and reintroduced the “Great Ideas Category,” recognizing ten early-stage concepts with high potential for future real-world impact.
Recognizing Innovation and Early-Stage Ideas
The awards program was established in 2011 to commemorate the legacy of the late Shri R. ChinniKrishnan, a pioneer in small-pack consumer goods whose work popularized affordable, accessible packaging. Over the past 15 years, the platform has identified and supported 42 transformative ventures nationwide.
This year’s competition saw overwhelming national participation, drawing over 850 nominations from across India. Submissions in the core Innovation Category were evaluated by an expert national jury on criteria including uniqueness, feasibility, problem-solving capability, scalability, social impact, and sustainability. The jury panel featured distinguished experts across engineering, defense, academia, and technology, including:

Reflecting on 15 years of supporting grassroots and commercial innovation, Mr. CK Ranganathan, Chairman & Managing Director of CavinKare, emphasized the evolving nature of problem-solving in India.
“Innovation is at the heart of progress and can take many forms,” said Mr. Ranganathan. “It does not always begin with a finished product; sometimes, it starts with a question, an observation, or an idea that challenges the way things are done. Reintroducing the Great Ideas category this year strengthens our commitment to encouraging those early sparks of ingenuity, helping unconventional concepts gain the support required to make a tangible difference.”
Mr. A R Unnikrishnan, President of the Madras Management Association, highlighted the rapid growth of the country’s start-up landscape. “The 850-plus nominations received this year highlight the exponential growth of India’s innovation ecosystem,” Mr. Unnikrishnan noted. “These awards honor the entrepreneurial spirit driving our economy and pave the way for a more prosperous, inclusive future.”
15th ChinniKrishnan Innovation Award Winners
The three main Innovation Category winners received a cash prize of ₹1 lakh each, along with a trophy and a citation. Beyond financial support, CavinKare will provide these ventures with strategic mentorship and operational expertise across business domains, including marketing, research and development, finance, design, packaging, and human resources.
- Biopioneer Pvt Ltd (Healthcare / Diagnostics): Developed an indigenous, thermostable, broad-spectrum protease inhibitor designed to preserve protein biomarkers in blood, plasma, and serum. By significantly reducing reliance on continuous cold-chain refrigeration, the technology improves the accuracy and reach of medical diagnostics in high-temperature, resource-constrained, and rural areas.
- Prantae Solutions Pvt Ltd (Medical Technology): Created Proflo-U®, a point-of-care portable diagnostic platform engineered to measure critical kidney-health markers with lab-grade precision. Utilizing a thermostable nanosensor, a rechargeable analyzer, and a simplified workflow, the system enables early screening for chronic kidney disease and preeclampsia in underserved populations.
- EF Polymer Private Limited (Agri-Tech): Designed an eco-friendly solution to agricultural drought through Fasal Amrit, a 100% biodegradable water-retention polymer derived from fruit and crop waste. Mixed into the crop root zone, the polymer absorbs excess rainwater or irrigation and gradually releases moisture back into the soil as it dries, drastically reducing crop water requirements.
Special Jury Award and Great Ideas Category
In addition to the primary category, the panel presented the Special Jury Award (including a ₹50,000 cash prize) to Music Temple Private Limited. The venture was recognized for Gamaka Box, a patented notation system designed to document and teach Indian classical music. The system provides a standardized visual representation of ‘gamakas’—the complex tonal oscillations and curves fundamental to Indian ragas—helping preserve traditional musical heritage in a readable format.
The re-introduced Great Ideas Category recognized ten early-stage concepts selected for their original problem-solving approaches, with each winning innovator receiving a ₹10,000 cash prize to assist in developing their ideas into market-ready solutions.
