Bengaluru, India – April 22, 2024 . Akshayakalpa Organic, a leading organic dairy and produce brand, today announced a significant expansion of its “Give Back the Milk Pack” initiative, aiming to achieve 100% consumer participation in recycling within the next 3-4 years. This initiative, launched on World Earth Day 2022, streamlines the recycling process for empty milk packets by allowing customers to return them directly in their delivery bags.

Shashi Kumar, Co-Founder and CEO of Akshayakalpa Organic, emphasized the urgency of addressing plastic pollution. “Plastic pollution is a crisis demanding immediate action,” Kumar said. “We’re committed to going beyond just words. Our ‘Give Back the Milk Pack’ program makes recycling effortless for consumers, and our switch to paperboard packaging for many products has dramatically reduced our plastic footprint.”

Akshayakalpa Organic’s Achievements in Recycling:

  • Collected over 30,000 kilograms of plastic for recycling in Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad since 2022.
  • Reduced plastic usage in packaging from 12 grams to 3 grams per liter of milk through a switch to paperboard.
  • Implemented sustainable packaging for vegetables and fruits.

Akshayakalpa Organic is committed to environmental responsibility beyond recycling. The company is creating educational videos to raise awareness about plastic pollution and is actively seeking alternative sustainable packaging solutions.

Kumar concluded by calling for collective action. “Together, we can make a difference,” he said. “By participating in ‘Give Back the Milk Pack’ and making conscious choices about the products we buy, we can create a greener future for generations to come.”
