BENGALURU 26 September 2026 In a major push toward a smarter and fully cashless public transit system, the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) launched the Namma BMTC Mobile App 2.0 on Monday. Unveiled by Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar at Vidhana Soudha, the updated digital platform brings together BMTC bus services and Namma Metro (BMRCL) ticketing onto a single application.
The launch event, held during the “Drudha Karnataka Sankalpa Shataka Patha, Pragatiya Ratha” programme, was attended by Deputy Chief Minster Dr. G. Parameshwara, Transport Minister B.S. Suresh (Byrathi), , and senior state transport officials, including Transport Secretary Deepa Cholan and BMTC Managing Director Raghunandan Murthy.
Key Features and Commuter Capabilities
The upgraded application is designed to act as a one-stop mobility assistant for commuters in the city:
- Integrated BMTC & Metro Ticketing: Passengers can purchase both BMTC bus tickets and Namma Metro QR tickets directly within the app, enabling seamless multimodal travel across Bengaluru.
- Real-Time Bus Tracking: Offers real-time GPS location tracking for buses, estimated arrival times (ETA), and route-specific details.
- Multimodal Journey Planner: Users can input their start and end points to view travel routes combined across buses, metro lines, or a mix of both.
- Digital Passes & Payments: Supports the instant purchase of daily and monthly BMTC passes—including Ordinary, Express, Vajra, Vayu Vajra, and NICE Road passes—via UPI, mobile wallets, and digital banking methods.
- Bilingual Interface: To cater to all residents, the user interface, bus stop names, and digital receipts are available in both Kannada and English.
- NCMC Card Integration: Alongside the app, BMTC reaffirmed full acceptance of National Common Mobility Cards (NCMC) across its bus fleet, allowing seamless transit access for cardholders nationwide.
The app is aimed at reducing reliance on cash transactions and shortening queue times at ticket counters and bus stands.
