Maadhurya Foundation: Uplifting Artists and Preserving Traditions

Maadhurya Foundation Uplifting Artists and Preserving Traditions - thisweekindia

The Maadhurya Foundation is a beacon of hope for artists in Bengaluru. Founded during the challenging times of the second COVID wave, their mission is simple: to empower artists and keep age-old traditions alive.

They started by supporting musicians who faced unemployment due to the pandemic. Many were the sole breadwinners for their families, and with no government aid, the situation was dire. Maadhurya Foundation stepped in, providing for their daily needs and healthcare.

But their vision extended beyond immediate relief. As things improved in March 2022, they observed that many talented local artists, those who carry the torch of tradition for generations, were still struggling.

This led Maadhurya Foundation to expand their reach. Now, they support not only full-time musicians but also native/traditional artists and the technicians who make every show possible – sound providers, lighting technicians, and more.

Their goals are twofold:

  • Organize events:They host musical shows and traditional performances, giving artists a platform to showcase their talent and earn a living.
  • Support artist well-being:They go beyond just shows, attending to artists’ healthcare needs, promoting deserving talents from economically challenged families, and ensuring the preservation of native art forms.

Through generous donations and ticketed shows, Maadhurya Foundation has already made significant strides. Here are some highlights:

  • Events:Rewind With Pancham (Hindi musical), Bombe Aatavayya (puppetry by Rangaputthali Puppeteers), Nenapina Doniyali (Kannada musical), and Kala Sangama (showcasing Dollu Kunita dance, instrumental music by Rajyotsava awardee Mukhaveene Anjinappa, and a presentation on the importance of bees).
  • Direct Support:In December 2022, they collaborated with Rotary Indiranagar, Jayadeva Hospital, and others to fund a successful angioplasty procedure for a senior musician. In April 2023, they sponsored a cataract surgery for the esteemed native artist Mukhaveene Anjinappa.

The future is bright for Maadhurya Foundation. They are determined to continue making a positive impact, and they invite you to join them. Visit their website (http://maadhuryafoundation.org/) to learn more and donate to this inspiring cause.

Together, we can empower artists, preserve traditions, and create a vibrant cultural scene in Bengaluru.
