Bhubaneswar, September 7, 2023 — In yet another landmark agreement, Tata Steel Special Economic Zone Limited (Tata Steel SEZ) and AVAADA GreenH2 have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today in Bhubaneswar. This new partnership aims to expedite the production of Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia at Gopalpur Industrial Park, reinforcing Odisha’s position as an emerging hub for clean energy solutions.

Following the successful MoU signing with ACME Clean Energy just two weeks ago, this new partnership further validates the state’s commitment to green and sustainable growth. Under the visionary leadership of Shri Naveen Patnaik, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha, the state continues its meteoric rise as a leader in the Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia sectors.

The generous incentives under the state’s Industrial Policy Resolution 2022 have already attracted some of the biggest names in the clean energy sector. AVAADA GreenH2’s decision to partner with Tata Steel SEZ amplifies the confidence that the global industry has in Odisha’s progressive policies and world-class industrial infrastructure.

As part of the government’s larger strategic vision, Paradeep and Gopalpur have been identified as pivotal locations for the development of this industry. Collaborative endeavors with the Government of India are also underway, including the identification of Paradip Port as one of the three key hydrogen storage hubs in India and the establishment of dedicated electrical infrastructure to meet the sector’s growing power demands.

During the MoU signing, Mr. Hemant Sharma, IAS, Principal Secretary, Industries Department and Chairman, IDCO & IPICOL stated, “Odisha’s roadmap for the green fuels sector is both comprehensive and ambitious. The addition of AVAADA Group to our partnership ecosystem is an endorsement of our strategy. We welcome AVAADA to the Odisha family and look forward to achieving new milestones together.”

Mr. Bhupendra Singh Poonia, IAS, Managing Director, IDCO & IPICOL said, “At IPICOL, we are committed to facilitating transformative ventures that propel us towards a sustainable future. This MoU between Tata Steel SEZ and AVAADA GreenH2 underscores our unwavering dedication to usher in investments that align with our sustainable development goals. As we look ahead, collaborations like these will light our path to a more prosperous and sustainable future.”

Mr. Prashant Choubey, President, AVAADA GreenH2 commented, “This MoU signifies a crucial step towards realizing our collective vision for a cleaner and sustainable future. We appreciate the concerted efforts of the Government of Odisha, Tata Steel SEZ, and other stakeholders in extending unmatched support to make this possible. Together, we will strive to make India a global leader in green hydrogen and its derivatives.”

Odisha’s proactive approach to green energy was also highlighted recently during a stakeholders’ conference focused on the new regulations for Open Access to Green Energy by the Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission.

Today’s MoU signing is a strong testament to the state’s progressive approach and its dedication to a sustainable future. It sets the stage for a long-term collaboration that promises to accelerate job creation, technological advancement, and environmental conservation in Odisha. This new partnership with AVAADA GreenH2 solidifies the state’s position as a green energy green fuels powerhouse, promising a more sustainable future for all. Odisha stands tall, leading the New Green Revolution, offering to the world not just resources but a blueprint for sustainable and inclusive growth.
